【Event Information】 African & African Diaspora Heritage Celebration
2020.12.24
Are you interested in learning about African countries and the Diaspora? If so, please join us for our 3-part series event. All events are free!
At the opening event, people with ties to four countries will provide an introductory presentation on each. The countries are Haiti, Kenya, Guyana, and the USA. You will have an opportunity to learn about the culture and history of each place. The event will also include poster exhibition of prominent figures, and reading of picture books so kids are welcome to attend!
The second and third event will be a movie screening of the 2018 Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the 1988 Oscar-nominated film Coming to America, respectively. At both screenings, cultural commentary will be provided to add context on the film’s significance.
Join us in February and meet some of our local foreign residents as they share a piece of their world with you!
